| Recycling Again Announced at the 2009 January meeting, guild members were encouraged to get on the green bandwagon and make a shawl using materials that are at least 50% recycled or eco-friendly. In 2010 we're expanding the horizons beyond shawls to any sort of project as long as you're recycling, reusing or upcycling. In September, show off your creations at our inhouse program For more ideas on eco-friendly fibre see http://planetgreen.discovery.com/fashion-beauty/organic-yarn-option s.html |
| Got Ravelry? Now we do too. You can connect with fellow members and others at our newly formed San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild group on Ravelry. |
| Tea Party Challenge At the 2010 January meeting, Colleen Davis announced the Everything Tea Party challenge. Think about knitting anything related to a tea party. Colleen's flyer included ideas like teapots, teacups & saucers, sugar & creamer, sugar tongs, tablecloths, place mats, china plates, spoons, place cards, coasters, floral centerpieces, candles, candleabras, serving dishes (perhaps even tiered) napkins, napkin rings, tea copies, doilies and fun finger food. Bring your finished items to the June meeting and Susan Ludwig will bring it all together into an amazing tablescape at the July potluck meeting. The February newsletter included a short list of free patterns resources from the internet that might be suitable or get your creative juices flowing. | Skirting it again Last year we did skirts and we're doing it again. The April Fashion show is all about knitted skirts so knit it and strut it and if you don't have the figure, family or time to knit it and strut it -- nothing says that dolls skirts are off limits.
