Upcoming Meetings/Workshops 4 February - 9am-11:30am Tuscany Shawl Class: Amy will introduce you to the joys of knitting lace the easy way while knitting the beautiful Tuscany shawl (pages 51 through 53 of No Sheep For You). Class fee $10 for guild members and $30 for non-members plus the cost of materials. Materials list & homework provided here. In addition to other materials, you will need a copy of the book No Sheep For You. The suggested yarns (Handmaiden Silken or Handmaiden Sea Silk) are not available in San Diego area LYS so if you've none in your stash, you'll need to swatch/substitute. Class size limited to 15 students. 2 March - Discussion of Yarn Trends, reports from Stitches West and TNNA attendees, and a short program by the Rather Normal knitting sub group. 6 April - Skirt (Knitted) Fashion Show. 4 May - Lecture/trunk show by Anna Walden of Twisted Sisters followed by 2 days of workshops. 1 June - Willa Cather who is also a member of the High Tide Purlers, will do a lecture/trunk show on "All Things Lace, and sometimes Beads." 6 July - Potluck and Results of the Tea Party Challenge 3 August - The Knit @ Nite sub group will give a presentation on Ravelry. Start weeding your STASH for the unloved by you, the what was I thinking, the another knitter's treasure, and the seriously I'm really never gonna knit this stuff yarns Bring your donations to the June & July meetings. 7 September - Recycling and Upcycling - Last year's challenge was so popular we're repeating/recycling it land hoping for even more creative reuses. 5 October - Candace Eisner Strick, author, designer, teacher, from Connecticut will be doing a lecture/trunk show followed by 2 days of workshops. 2 November - Lisa Limber, will be doing a presentation on "Design For Your Own Style: Don't Be Afraid to Figure it Out." December - Holiday Lunch/Fashion Show Previous Meetings 2 February - Amy Singer, Editor of Knitty.com, presented a perfect for So Cal presentation/lecture/trunk show on her book No Sheep for You. 5 January 2010 LYS owner and talented designer, Tanya Alpert of Knitting By The Beach discussed her beautiful book Haiku Knits The 2010 participation challenge was unveiled and discussed -- hint, think tea party and think knitting. |
